You Are Here
Three words that are always true.
Wherever you are. Whenever you are. When you read YOU ARE HERE,
it is always true.
A guidepost. A meditation. A mosaic message pressed into red clay and installed in the places that matter. The YOU ARE HERE Project has been bubbling up for years. Its time has arrived.
What is it?
YOU ARE HERE is a placemaking project for mosaicists who believe that where you are is worth marking. Not at The Ruins — in your place. Your town, your city, your underappreciated hinterland. The outside wall of your friend's coffee shop. Your house number. A community project.
You make the rules. I am here for inspiration and support only. No deadlines. No returns to The Ruins. This one belongs to your place.
The Tag
The Sager Mosaics studio is groaning with the weight of these gorgeous red clay circles. Tags tucked into corners, stacked atop workbenches. I had a special stamp made with mixed font letters and chose a specific red clay — it reminds me a bit of red dog — fired to be freeze/thaw durable. Each tag is hand cut and hand stamped. The same, but one of a kind. Small imperfections will be enjoyed and embraced.
The Original YOU ARE HERE tag is available to anyone. A mini tag has recently joined the family.
Dig Deeper
The YOU ARE HERE course through Mosaic Arts Online takes you further into the philosophy of placemaking — loads of inspiration, focus, and community. Students get access to The Mosaic Atlas, a private space where we share finished work and works in progress. I check in regularly. It's our creative hub.
